Aneesha Reddy is an artist and conscious upcycler. She is passionate about the environment and is on a journey towards creating sustainable art. She has a deep interest in textiles and advocates conscious shopping and supporting local crafts.
Aneesha Reddy is an abstract and contemporary artist based in Hyderabad. She has been passionate about art and the environment and drawn to creating for as long as she can remember. She participated in her first exhibition when she was 6 and since then explored various techniques with oil paints, acrylic paints, watercolors, natural paints, block printing and mixed media art.
When Aneesha began researching her art supplies and materials, she was shocked to discover how harmful most of them are for the environment and lack of awareness about these effects among artists. It was this realization that set her forth on a journey towards creating sustainable art. Although for centuries, art has been created to last forever, her personal mission is to create art that can disappear without a trace.
Sustainable art to Aneesha means using paper or cloth instead of chemical-coated canvases, natural paints instead of synthetic ones and reclaimed wood frames instead of plastic. She also has a deep interest in Indian textiles and incorporates fabric waste that she has picked up in tailor shops across the city into her artwork.
Her biggest sources of inspiration are her plants and the people around her. She loves to learn and loves to explore. She craves meaning in her work and is happiest when she is able to help and connect with people.
When she is taking a break, she usually found reading, traveling, or enjoying the lazy outdoors.
“Her paintings are beautiful, ethnic and inspired by nature - just the kind I love!”
